Multifamily charging

Run multi-family EV charging across every building

Power is shared, residents pay differently, and site owners want their cut. Monta handles access, fair billing, load management and revenue sharing automatically, so you can add buildings without adding headcount.

Multi-family EV charging on Monta
The challenge

Multi-family looks simple. Operating it isn't.

How operators run multi-family charging on Monta

Set it up once per building, then let Monta run the day to day. You stay in control while residents and site owners get what they expect.

01

Set up the building and its charge points

Group charge points by building, mix shared and assigned units, and bring existing hardware since Monta is hardware-agnostic.

02

Control who charges

Give residents access, open paid guest or public sessions on the same site, and keep staff or fleet charging separate. App and RFID both work.

03

Bill every resident automatically

Each resident pays for their own energy to the kWh, on card or invoice, while Monta absorbs the payment and reconciliation work.

04

Share revenue with site owners

Set the split with the association or owner once, and Monta calculates and reports their share every billing cycle.

05

Balance load and monitor uptime

Dynamic load management spreads power across active sessions, and you watch faults, utilisation and revenue per site in one view.

How you make it happen

Capabilities for multi-family sites

Balancing shared load, residents paying their own way, billing that flexes per building, and owner revenue shared cleanly. These are the parts operators lean on most.

Load management

Balance power across every car charging at once, so you add charge points without tripping the building or funding a costly grid upgrade.

Driver payment options

Residents and guests pay how they like, by app, RFID, card or QR web app, so no one is excluded and every session is captured.

FAQs

Can I bill each resident individually?

Yes. Every session is metered and billed to the resident who used it, to the kWh, on their card or by invoice. The building owner pays only for genuinely shared use.

Does it work with the charge points already in the building?

Monta is hardware-agnostic and supports a wide range of charge point brands, so existing hardware stays. You add Monta as the management and billing layer instead of replacing kit.

How do shared and private chargers work together?

You can run both on one site. Shared charge points bill per session to whoever charges, while assigned ones are tied to a resident or bay. Access and pricing are set per group.

What about residents without a smartphone?

Residents can charge with an RFID card on a fixed tariff, with no app required, so no one in the building is excluded.

Can I share revenue with the housing association or owner?

Yes. Set the split once and Monta calculates and reports the owner's share every billing cycle, so reconciliation is not a manual job.

Will shared power and support costs eat the margin?

Load management lets you add charge points without a grid upgrade, automated billing cuts admin per site, and AI driver support reduces the tickets that usually erode multi-family margins.
