Frequently asked questions

How is Monta priced? Per charge point, per location, or per transaction?

We use a subscription-based model tied primarily to the number of charge points managed with Monta Hub, with optional usage-based fees for add-ons. There is also a general platform access fee. Transaction fees are applied on paid charges only — for example, a driver charges for $10 on one of your charge points, Monta's transaction fee is 4%, so we take $0.40 for processing the transaction via Stripe and $9.60 is deposited in the wallet of the charge point owner. There are no location-based costs.

Do you charge different prices for AC and DC charge points, or is the fee the same?

We generally charge a different monthly fee for AC and DC charge points. This is due to more significant load and reliability requirements for DC fast charge points.

What transaction fees apply to each charging session? Can internal transfers be fee-free?

When Monta processes payments on behalf of operators, we charge a small transaction fee per charging session to cover payment processing, reconciliation, and chargeback protection. External transactions (drivers paying with cards, wallets, Apple Pay/Google Pay) incur a per-transaction fee. Internal transfers inside your organization can be configured without transaction fees.

How does Monta's pricing scale as we grow from a few charge points to hundreds or thousands of ports?

Our pricing is designed to scale with you. You can start with a handful of ports on a start-up plan, and as you grow to thousands of ports we typically offer volume-based discounts. We regularly review usage with larger customers and can renegotiate terms as your volume changes.

How does Monta's cost compare to current backend or competitors once we include financial services, roaming, and driver support?

Most operators see value not only in the license price, but in the total cost of operating their network — automated financial reconciliation, roaming, and 24/7 driver support are built into the platform, reducing manual work and third-party API costs.

Are there additional fees for roaming, white-label apps, or advanced features like dynamic pricing and home reimbursement?

We keep the core platform simple and offer optional add-ons for advanced needs — roaming/interoperability fees depend on the networks you connect to, white-label apps come with a branding and setup fee plus monthly maintenance, and advanced features may be included in higher tiers or available as feature bundles.

What are the costs for onboarding and migrating existing charge points to Monta versus ongoing monthly fees?

Onboarding and migration work — bulk importing charge points, testing integrations, training your team — is scoped before anything is signed. Basic onboarding is included for many customers, while complex migrations may involve a one-off project fee.

How do you handle pricing for different use cases (fleet, public, workplace, home reimbursement) within one account?

Pricing is generally divided between AC and DC charge points, not by use case. Once live, Monta lets you configure different price groups and products within the same platform for public charging, workplace charging, fleet charging, and home reimbursement.

How are funds from charging sessions paid out to us, and is there a delay or cash-flow impact?

We route driver payments into a digital wallet connected to your organization. Funds from completed charging sessions are settled in your wallet in real time, and withdrawn to your bank account at the end of each month — more frequent withdrawals are possible for high volume.

Can Monta's pricing model adapt to our existing contracts and fixed-fee agreements with current customers?

Yes. You can configure different tariffs, price groups, and billing rules to mirror your current agreements, and our subscriptions feature automatically collects and distributes funds between you and your B2B customers or site hosts.
