Every promotion has four parts. You control all of them.
Choose what you offer the driver
Three types of promotion. Each designed for a different moment in the driver relationship.
- Percentage discount e.g. 20% off every session, for loyalty programs or seasonal deals
- Free charges Driver pays nothing, ideal for new site openings, events, or onboarding
- Voucher credit A fixed monetary credit applied to the driver’s session cost
Shape the campaign around what you're willing to invest
Every control parameter reduces risk. Together they let you run a campaign without worrying about budget overruns.
- Spend cap per driver: e.g. max $15 per user, keeps your CAC predictable
- Charges per driver: 1, 3, or 10 charges with a single code: one-time discount or repeat habit
- Validity period: One week for an event, the whole summer, or an ongoing fleet discount
- Eligibility: Specific sites and chargers, or your entire network. You decide
You decide how drivers receive the promotion
Broad campaigns or precision targeting. Both are available, and both work without a developer.
- Share a code: Publish a code like SUMMER20, anyone with it can redeem. Great for events, campaigns, and site openings.
- Auto-apply to teams: Silently apply a discount to a fleet team or user group, no code needed on their end
- Auto-apply to individual drivers: Target a specific driver directly, e.g. someone who had a bad experience
- Auto-apply on new signups: Every new driver who creates an account gets a welcome offer automatically
Reach the right driver, at the right moment
Usage-based targeting lets you run campaigns shaped around real driver behavior. More trigger types are added regularly.
- New signups: Every new driver that signs up gets a welcome offer automatically
- Active drivers (coming soon): Drivers who charged in the last 30 days, reward loyalty and reinforce the habit
- Lapsed drivers (coming soon): Charged once but not in the last 30 days, win-back campaign
- First-time visitors (coming soon): Drivers charging on your network for the first time
A commercial goal, and the promotion you’d create to reach it
- Drive first sessions at a new site opening.
- You want drivers in the area to discover your new location and try it immediately. A frictionless, no-code offer removes every barrier to that first session.
- Incentive: Free charge
- Validity: 2 weeks from site opening
- Eligibility: New site chargers only
- Distribution: Auto-applied, no code needed
- Increase sessions during the summer period.
- A seasonal promotion gives drivers a reason to choose your network over the competition during a specific window. The spend cap keeps your budget predictable.
- Incentive: 20% percentage discount
- Spend cap: Max $15 per driver
- Validity: June to August
- Distribution: Shared code: SUMMER20
- Re-engage drivers who charged once and haven’t been back.
- A targeted win-back offer reminds lapsed drivers your network exists and removes the price barrier that may be keeping them away.
- Incentive: Free charge
- Charges: 1 charge per driver
- Target: Drivers inactive for 30 days
- Distribution: Auto-applied, no code needed
- Give fleet drivers a permanent discount as part of their contract.
- Fleet customers expect a preferential rate. Auto-applying the discount directly to their team means no code distribution, no expiry to manage, and no friction on their end.
- Incentive: Percentage discount (e.g. 15%)
- Validity: No expiry
- Target: Fleet team
- Distribution: Auto-applied, no code, no action required
- Turn new signups into repeat chargers
- One free charge gets a driver in the door. Three builds the habit. A 60-day window gives them enough time to use the offer and form a pattern.
- Incentive: Percentage discount (e.g. 15%)
- Validity: No expiry
- Target: Fleet team
- Distribution: Auto-applied, no code, no action required
- Connect your existing loyalty or POS system to charging promotions
- You already have a loyalty program. You want a purchase, a points milestone, or a member signup to automatically trigger a charging promotion, without building separate infrastructure.
- Incentive: Any type, configured per trigger
- Trigger: Loyalty event fires via Partner API
- Distribution: Code auto-redeemed for the driver
- Setup: No separate voucher infrastructure to build

FAQs
Can I limit how much a promotion costs me?
Yes. Every promotion has controls built in. You can cap the maximum spend per driver, limit how many charges a single code covers (1, 3, or 10), set a validity window, and restrict eligibility to specific sites or chargers. Together these let you set a hard ceiling on what a campaign costs before you launch it.
Do drivers have to enter a code, or can discounts apply automatically?
Both options are available. You can share a code publicly (like SUMMER20) that drivers enter themselves, or you can auto-apply a promotion directly to specific teams, individual drivers, or every new driver who signs up — with no code entry required on their end.
Can I run a promotion on specific chargers only?
Yes. When you create a promotion you choose its eligibility — specific chargers, a particular site, or your entire network. This means you can run a new site opening offer on just those chargers without it applying across everything you manage.
Can I connect promotions to my existing loyalty or CRM system?
Yes, via the Monta Partner API. Your existing system can trigger a promotion in real time — a purchase, a loyalty points milestone, or a membership event fires a call to the API, and the promotion is automatically applied to the driver’s account. No separate voucher infrastructure to build or maintain.
How are promotions billed and reconciled?
Promotion costs are automatically settled to your Monta account and itemized on your invoice. Sales tax is handled by Monta’s invoicing layer. There is no manual reconciliation required from your finance team.
Do I need a developer to set up or change a campaign?
No. Promotions are fully self-serve inside Monta Hub. Your marketing or operations team can create, edit, pause, or stop a campaign at any time without filing a ticket or waiting on an engineering sprint.
Can one promotion code be used by multiple drivers?
Yes. You can set a total usage limit on a code to control how many drivers redeem it, or leave it open for a broad campaign. Combined with the per-driver spend cap, this gives you two independent levers to control the total cost of the campaign.
Ready to run driver promotions that actually convert?
Attract new drivers, retain the ones you have, and fill your sites with promotions you control.
