How do I add and configure charge points in the Energy Portal?

Last updated: 4 May 2026

In the Energy Portal, individual charge points are called EVSEs (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment). Each EVSE belongs to exactly one node in your site topology.

Adding an EVSE

  1. Open the site topology
  2. Select the node the charge point belongs to
  3. Choose Add EVSE from the node’s context menu
  4. Select the charge point from your Monta inventory

The EVSE will appear in the topology and inherit the power constraints of its parent node.

EVSE configuration

Once added, you can configure the following per EVSE:

  • Power limit — maximum charging power for this EVSE (kW)
  • Current limit — maximum current for this EVSE (A)
  • Phase configuration — single-phase or three-phase, and phase assignment
  • Charge intent — an EVSE-specific intent that overrides the site default for sessions at this charger
  • Load management — enable or disable load management control for this EVSE

AC and DC charge points

Both AC and DC charge points are supported. The configuration options are the same — the optimiser handles the different charging profiles automatically.

Real-time status

Each EVSE card shows:

  • Current state — Available, Charging, Faulted, etc.
  • Active session — driver, power draw, and energy delivered
  • State history — a heatmap of state transitions over time

Use the inline actions menu on the EVSE card to send commands, open charge history, or edit configuration without leaving the topology view.

EVSE charge intents

You can assign a charge intent directly to an EVSE. This intent applies to any session at that specific charge point, unless overridden by an RFID or vehicle intent.
